Knowledge Gap: This activity aims to educate healthcare providers with the most up-to-date information on using Epic’s electronic health record software for identifying clinical trial participants.

Target Audience: The target audience includes all healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals who would like to develop the skills necessary to effectively use Epic EHR’s SlicerDicer for clinical research, enhancing the ability to analyze patient data and identify eligible trial participants.

Program Overview: The purpose of this activity is to educate medical professionals on using Epic’s electronic health record software for identifying clinical trial participants.

Objectives
Explain how to navigate Epic EHR’s SliceDicer, access data, and apply filters for querying patient information effectively.
Describe population-based analysis using SlicerDicer to review patient cohorts and generate visualizations for valuable insights.
Apply SlicerDicer to design queries and identify potential trial participants based on specific eligibility criteria.

Jackie Boyd is a pediatric clinical research nurse with 9 ½ years of experience. She has been a nurse since 2006 working pediatrics since 2007, mostly in the Pediatric ER prior to research. She has been with the ISPCTN since it began and has a team in Kentucky that she loves working with.

Brett Bailey, PharmD
Brett Bailey currently serves the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as the Associate Chief Clinical Informatics Officer for Innovation, Research, and Entrepreneurship. In this role, he oversees research opportunities and utilizes electronic health record data analytics to improve user experience, maximize business outcomes, and streamline and improve patient care. He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UAMS and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Central Arkansas..

AMA Credit Designation Statement
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences designates this enduring material activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
ACPE Credit Designation Statement
These knowledge-based activities will provide pharmacists with up to 1 contact hour or 1 CEU. CE credit information, based on participation and completion of the program evaluation, will be provided to NABP within 60 days after the activity completion.
ANCC Credit Designation Statement
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences designates this enduring material activity for a maximum of 1 ANCC contact hours. Nursing contact hours will be awarded for successful completion of program components based upon documented attendance and completion of evaluation materials.
AAPA Credit Designation Statement
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria.
