Community Engagement Seminar

Return to Course Menu

The Community Engagement Seminar is presented by the Kentucky Pediatric IDeA States Pediatric Research Center Team partnering with the UofL Commonwealth Institute of Kentucky

This symposium will focus on the role of Community Engagement in research, with an emphasis on clinical research. Participants will gain an understanding of the principles of Community Engagement and how to develop an effective Community Engagement Strategy. Enacting these tools in their own research, with a strong understanding of community context, can help build relationships in the community, engage undeserved populations in research, and positively impact study recruitment and retention. It is divided into three sessions

1.) Session 1: Community Engagement in Clinical Research by Monica Wendel, PhD (1 hour)
2.) Session 2: Community Engagement in Practice by Dave Mclntosh, PhD (35 minutes)
3.) Session 3: What would community engagement look like in your research? by Aishia Brown. PhD (20 minutes)
