Elizabeth Yates-Jimenez is a Research Associate Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics (Division of Adolescent Medicine) and Internal Medicine (Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Preventive Medicine) at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center. She is also the Interim Director of the Cradle to Career Policy Institute at UNM and the Director of the Nutrition Research Network for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Elizabeth’s research is focused on the prevention of micronutrient deficiencies and on the prevention and improved treatment of obesity and diabetes in underserved populations, with a particular focus on maternal, child and adolescent populations, and on work with schools and school-based health centers. She has expertise in design and implementation of community-based research studies and the collection and analysis of dietary intake, food security, nutritional biomarker, physical activity, body composition and anthropometric data. She is a pediatric registered dietitian with a B.S. in human nutrition and an M.S. in public health nutrition from Case Western Reserve University, and a Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of California, Davis.
